Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul! SVdP welcomes volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to join us in our efforts to help improve the lives of those in need within our community. Your time is your most valuable resource so we sincerely appreciate your desire to join us in our quest.
SVdP is dedicated to meeting the needs of the poor in Santa Clara County in a variety of ways, and as you might expect there’s a broad spectrum of ways to get involved. Whether you join as a concerned member of the community, a retiree who desires to get involved in community outreach, as a student with class requirements - whatever your passion, whatever your availability, you’ll make a difference in your community by assisting us in our quest.
General Office Functions:
We are seeking individuals who can volunteer on a weekly basis for 2 or more hours/week. Tasks will vary but they are typically general office functions like mailings, data entry, answering the phone, and filing. Also, if you possess skills in IT and can help us backup systems, address printing and WiFi issues, resolve system configuration issues (nothing too technical), are an expert in QuickBooks, etc… All these are tasks we can use help with from time to time at the main office.
Do you have a knack for marketing, SEO, SEM/AdWords, Ad Copy, or social media content creation/posting? If so we could use your talents to help us communicate more effectively and get the word out. Many of our fundraising efforts are on-line and this is an area where you can help us get our message out and raise funds and resources to help the needy in our community.
Events are a great way to get your group involved, or to get a quick no-commitment taste of what SVdP is about. But we should warn you… you might like what you experience and make it a habit! Events include clothing drives, back-to-school backpack distributions, Thanksgiving and Christmas Baskets and Christmas Giving Trees.
St. Vincent de Paul Conferences:
Conferences are groups of volunteers, organized through local parishes, which minister to the poor on a regular basis and meet together to discuss strategies, opportunities, and support and encourage each other. Conference members also conduct one-on-one house visits and do what they can to meet the needs of each individual in their area who require assistance. The Conference’s focus is not only on the day-to-day work of serving the poor, but they also spend time planning events and fundraisers for their local area.
Not Sure Where You Fit:
After all of this if you’re still not sure what you’d like to do, but you still want to make a difference, don’t worry. We keep a list of volunteers who want to be contacted for special events, so you can ask to be on that list if you’d like and we will contact you as the need arises.
