“The Measure of the Greatness…”
Pope Francis writes that “The measure of the greatness of a society is found in the way it treats those most in need, those who have nothing apart from their poverty”. We are requesting your help in caring for those most in need in our community including the homeless and the struggling families living in poverty.
Over the past year, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Santa Clara County responded to over 19,600 calls from families across our community requesting help to pay their rent and utility bills, keep food on the table, and pay medical bills. Many of these families were already homeless or living in their cars. St. Vincent de Paul assisted by providing over $1,086,00.00 in direct financial assistance for shelter, utility bills, medicine, and transportation. We also assisted with $409,000.00 in “in-kind” assistance in the form of food and clothing.
Many times the demand for help exceeds our funding and sadly we must turn families away. We are reaching out to you to request your help so we may continue our mission to help the homeless and the “most in need” in our community. We are pleased to report that a benefactor has agreed to match all donations received by November 1, 2018 up to $20,000.00.
If you wish to support us with a contribution you can do so by mailing in your donation or donating on-line.
